The breakin’ Dishes is video about a late teen, and early 20’s woman who is at her peek and seeks emancipation form the men in her life who don’t appreciate her as the stereotypical woman she had no problem being. This is seen through her flashes in the shattering glass showing her practicing the dominant ideologies expected of women to their man. However, each scene leaves her in disappointment. This video shows the extent to which her frustration has driven her, and how fed up she has become. Caught between her head and her heart (captures by our use of mirrors to show alter egos), she battles to leave the world of love by ‘breaking’ the rules, resulting in furry because she is so determined. She is breaking free from that ideal woman who makes ‘dishes’ and shown especially in the scene where she defeats two big men. By being mainly performance base, with abstract views of her thoughts in the breaking glass, we give the viewers an engaging outlook on her character. Viewing her as a role model and inspirational figure to those caught in the same situation. Her sex appeal and edginess would also attract men to see that emancipated women could be the ideal type.
